Strictly speaking, this isn't the pubbiest venue you'll ever have seen for a Skeptics in the Pub. (Unless this is your first time. In which case, welcome aboard!) But it's a pretty amazing place to have a talk in!
It's the top floor of the Hackney Picturehouse at 270 Mare Street, Hackney, right opposite the Town Hall and the Hackney Empire. At the ground floor is the bar. We're on the top floor - the Attic. You won't be able to get in without a ticket, but once you've got one you can come and go. There'll be a bar there anyway.
Here's their web page about us!
You can eat there (traditional pub and cinema food), and there are other local places, for example a Wetherspoons nearly next door. Ask if your food can be sent to the Attic. There are tables in the room so you'll be able to eat while listening to the talk!
The Attic will be open from 6pm onwards. Talks will usually start 7.30 or 8pm.
Here we are on Google Maps.
The nearest train station is Hackney Central, on the Overground line, between Stratford and Canonbury (railway map). The station's on Amhurst Road. Exit along the narrow path towards the bridge and turn right. Mare Street will be on your left.
Local buses: 30, 38, 48, 55, 106, 236 (24hr), 242 (24hr), 253, 254, 276, 277 (24hr), 394, D6, W15, N38, N55, N106, N253. Get off at the Hackney Empire.
Downstairs is a long bar with several tables. You'll find us on the fifth floor - there are stairs and a lift on the right, as if you were going to the cinema. If you get lost ask someone where the Attic is!
